No you don’t need to have a winery or a vineyard to make wine. As a matter of fact, you don’t even need much technical expertise on how to make good wine. All it will take is the interest and curiosity of producing a homemade brew which you can serve to a special friend or reserve for some special occasions. The materials that you will need can easily be purchased from a supermarket or grocery store. The process and principles involved in wine making are really very simple and practical so that wine making is one ideal home project.

Home wine making instructions are easy to follow. First of course is buying the right ingredients, foremost of which is the main raw material: 100% pure grape juice with no additives whatsoever. Having purely natural grape juice is very important as it will dictate the quality of the wine. The ideal way for beginners to start is with three 1-liter boxes or bottles of grape juice. You will also need dry baker’s yeast, granulated sugar, 2-and 3 centileters (cl) of water. To complete the items, be ready with four to six empty glass bottles, clean and odorless paper napkins, rubber bands and a funnel.

With these you are all set for homemade wine making. Distribute the total 3-liter grape juice into your four empty bottles each of which will then contain 75 cl. Add granulated sugar. Shake to dissolve the sugar. This mixture is necessary for the fermentation process which should give your wine an alcohol volume of 10-11%. Mix your water with one-half teaspoon of baker’s yeast and one teaspoon of granulated sugar in a glass. Cover the glass and store it in a dark place for 1-2 hours after which a thick layer of foam will be formed. Mix one-fourth of the foam layer and three teaspoons of water with yeast sugar to each of the four grape juice bottles. Seal the bottles with the napkins and rubber bands and store the containers in a dark place with ideal temperature of 25 degrees Celsius for about 9-12 days. For better quality, transfer the fermenting wine into new bottles at one or two-day intervals, excluding any sediment formed.

With the recent craze over the polyphenol Resveratrol and other incredible antioxidants, many people are asking why red wine benefits health. To fully understand how red wine may help to delay or avoid certain diseases or increase your life span, it is important to look at the recent studies and what is actually in the wine that can strengthen your body. Although you can find many sources of this information on the internet, it is important to review all the available information to make sure what you are reading is accurate. There are many reports currently available that do not clarify the true results of the studies, so finding accurate information is important.

First, it is important to understand what exactly is in red wine that has such positive benefits on our bodies. Resveratrol, which is the source of the recent hype, is a polyphenol or antioxidant that is said to have a number of amazing qualities. Some people who have taken Resveratrol swear that it makes them feel and look younger, which has been attributed to the fact that Resveratrol has an anti-inflammatory effect on the people who take it. Resveratrol has also been studied in animals and had conclusive evidence that it can lower the risk of some cancers by inhibiting the growth of tumors and bad cells that encourage cancer growth.

Resveratrol has had amazing results in the field of heart disease. It seems to researchers that Resveratrol has amazing effects on blood thinning which reduces the risk of blood clots, strokes, and heart attacks. Resveratrol also has shown to lower the level of bad cholesterol and increase the level of good cholesterol in test takers, which is something that has been very difficult to accomplish so far in the medical community. It is important though to keep in mind that these results has mainly been seen so far in the study of rats, and has not been conclusively studied on humans.

When questioning why red wine benefits health, it is important to realize that Red wine contains Resveratrol, but in very small doses. It includes more than white wine because in the fermentation process the skins of the grapes (where Resveratrol is found) remain on the grape vs. in white wine where they are removed. The rats that saw dramatic improvement received doses that were the equivalent of over 100 bottles of red wine per day, so the field of Resveratrol study is still ongoing.

France is one of the five largest wine producing regions in the world along with the United States, Spain, Italy and Argentina. Within France there are several wine producing regions namely, Alsace, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Corsica, Côtes du Rhone, Languedoc-Roussillon, Loire Valley, Provence and South West. The quality of wine produced may differ greatly from region to region. Although there are many wine producers in each region, there are some wine producers who are regarded as the best in a particular region.

In Bordeaux, Vieux Chateau, Château Haut-Marbuzet, Château de Haux, Château Thieuley, Château Desmirail, Château Faugères, Château Fourcas-Dupré, Château La Tour de By are some of the more popular wine producers. In Provence, some of the popular vineyards are Château de Roquefort, Château Roubine, and Château Calissanne. In Languedoc, Domaine Haut-Lirou, Domaine Coupe-Roses, Domaine du Grand Chemin and Domaine de l’Hortus are some of the popular producers. In the region of Burgundy, Domaine Laroche, Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard and Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur are some of the popular names in the field of wine production. Château de Chamboureau, Domaine de la Charmoise and Château de Fesles are some of the popular producers of wine in the region of Loire. In southern Rhone, producers such as Chateau de Campuget, Chateau Mont-redon, Clos du Pape and Chateau de Beaucastel are regarded highly.

There are a number of French wine producers all over France and this mention of some of the producers is by no means to be considered as exhaustive. It is merely a small list of the popular names. There are a number of French wine producers in many of the wine producing countries such as the United States and Spain and these producers are also quite highly regarded as far as the quality and taste of the French wine is considered.

In order to ensure that your fine wine investment is preserved and will bring you profit in the future you must look after it properly. Creating a space for your wine to be stored is essential, especially if you have spent a lot of money purchasing it, and of course, if you depend on the money which will come from it when you sell. Once you have chosen the wine which you want to invest in you need to think about the essentials prior to bringing it home. Creating a spot in your home specifically for your wine is very important, as is purchasing the necessary equipment to protect it from being spoilt and losing its quality which in turn will lower its overall cost.

Purchasing a good wine cooler is the first thing you have to think about. Even if you have a special space in your home specifically for the wine you have purchased for fine wine investment, you need to provide the ideal spot to store it until the time comes to cash in. There are many wine coolers available on the market. Of course, the size depends on the amount of wine you have purchased for investment, however, consider a larger cooler in case you decide to invest in more wine or purchase wine for your personal consumption.

The cooler needs to have options to both regulate the temperature and humidity. This is essential because depending on the temperature, the wine can either spoil or mature more slowly. If you want to wait on your return then you can put the temperature on low where the wine will mature much slower. If the temperature is too high and it is too hot in the cooler the wine may spoil ruining its taste. The humidity is for ensuring that the cork does not dry up which causes evaporation. Of course, don’t put the humidity too high because this may cause mould to accumulate.

You want to keep your wine in a wine cooler because your fine wine investment is important to you. You don’t want it to become ruined due to changes in temperature or humidity. In addition, if it is not stored on its own then smells around it may actually go in through the cork and ruin the taste and overall quality of the wine. Also, when purchasing your wine cooler make sure that the bottles can be stored at least at 45-degree angle. This is important as the cork needs to be kept moist at all times.

After a hard day at work, many people love to come home and enjoy a nice glass of wine. While any wine glass will do, some people prefer to drink their wine in style. Many wine drinkers say that the shape and style of the glass affects the flavor and aroma of the wine. Square wine glasses are a unique and trendy way to drink or serve wine. They typically pair well with any kind of regular wine: red, white or even rose. The wine is able to swoosh around in the glass properly, allowing the wine consumer to smell the aroma before they taste the wine. Wine glasses made of quality glass will not impede the flavor of the wine at all. Actually the experts say that square wine glasses are the best choice if you really want to get the most out of your wine. If you have a square glass and learn how to drink from the flat side of it, the wine gets to flow freely into your mouth, which gives you a better sense of the aroma.

Like most wine goblets, square vessels vary in style and price. Plastic square goblets are available for a very inexpensive price, while glasses made of thick, heavy glass will run the consumer a pretty penny. Make sure to be aware of the type of material the glasses are made of. Traditionally, stemware is plain and clear in an effort to avoid affecting the flavor of the drink. Wine experts say that as long as the mouth of the glass is the same size or smaller than the base of the glass, that style can be a very interesting factor when choosing a new set of glasses. Square wine glasses are trendy and can come in styles not available to the traditional round or fluted drinkware. They can be made of thick or thin glass, and many do not have stems. They are available in a number of colors and styles and you can get them painted or etched like any other glasses. Be sure to check the material and how it will affect the wine. Square wine goblets are considered sophisticated and sleek, and would be a welcome addition to any wine drinkers glassware collection.
